Module 7 – Interviewing: Education, Skill Development & Practice

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Summary

Transitioning from the classroom to the boardroom requires more than just a polished resume; it demands a fundamental shift in professional identity. This module serves as a high-impact bridge, transforming candidates from passive “grade-seekers” into proactive strategic assets.

By the end of this session, students will move beyond simply answering questions to commanding the room through the lens of a consultant-mindset, backed by a sophisticated toolkit for storytelling, rigorous preparation, and high-stakes follow-through.

Content

  • The Paradigm Shift: Cultivating the “Consultant Mindset” by pivoting from a student identity (focused on what you’ve learned) to a problem-solver identity (focused on how you create value)
  • The Interviewer’s Toolkit: Constructing a versatile portfolio of professional narratives, including the S.T.A.R. Method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to provide evidence-based proof of competency
  • Narrative Architecture: Refining the “Personal Story” to align individual history with the specific needs and culture of the hiring organization
  • Strategic Preparation: Developing a systematic method for researching company pain points, industry trends, and stakeholder goals to enter every conversation with high-level business intelligence
  • Performance Engineering: Engaging in iterative practice and mock-interview cycles to build muscle memory, manage physiological stress, and refine non-verbal communication
  • Post-Interview Momentum: Mastering the art of the strategic follow-up, transforming the post-interview window into an opportunity for further value-building and relationship management
