Frequently Asked Questions

Who is LaunchPath for?

LaunchPath is designed for college students or recent college graduates who are ready to step confidently into the job market. Whether you know exactly what you want to do or are still exploring options (or even if you’re feeling lost), we provide the structure, tools, and personalized 1:1 coaching to help you find your path and launch your career.

A career coach for college students provides one-on-one guidance through every stage of the job search: identifying a career direction and pathways, building your skill inventory and personal narrative, creating your resume, LinkedIn and social media persona, developing a successful job / internship search strategy, creating a targeted networking plan, upskilling your interviewing capabilities, teaching you how to manage and negotiate offers, and giving you support and advice through your onboarding and early career blast-off. At LaunchPath, coaching is delivered by former executive recruiters who have spent decades on the hiring side, so our clients learn how hiring actually works, not just generic advice.

Anytime from year 2 through graduation! Think 12–18 months before your job or internship search begins, typically year 2 or year 3, because networking and positioning take time to compound. That said, LaunchPath offers our Runway program that works effectively for students from 2nd year through post-graduation – and LaunchPath also offers Accelerate – a program for graduates who need results now.

Not at all. LaunchPath was designed to support students and graduates who are still figuring things out. We start with career assessments, coaching, and current real-world market insights to help you clarify your strengths and identify a path that feels right for you. The simple fact is that everyone works on a different discovery timeline – our goal is to help you shortcut that, find your direction and prepare to head onto a path to success.

Yes. Career coaching works for any major – business, engineering, humanities, and creative fields alike – because employers hire for skills, potential, and fit, not just degree titles. Much of the work is translation: helping students frame coursework, projects, part-time jobs, and campus leadership as evidence of value to an employer.

A college career center is a free, self-service resource that serves thousands of students with resume reviews and job fairs. A career coach provides dedicated one-on-one coaching, a structured step-by-step process, and accountability to develop the skills and knowledge most job-seekers lack. LaunchPath’s coaches are recruiters with decades of experience developing talent, which means students get the training to develop their own opportunities as well as insider hiring knowledge that career centers simply cannot offer. We build career development skills that last a lifetime.

How much does career coaching cost?

LaunchPath programs range from $4,950 for our Accelerate (late 4th and post-grad students) program, to $7,450 for our Signature (3rd and 4th year student) program, and fractionally more for our Runway (2nd and 3rd year student) programs – pricing depends on start year.

Industry market rates for reputable, comprehensive 1:1 career coaching services for students and new graduates currently range between $5,000 and $15,000, depending on depth of direct coaching involvement and engagement duration.

A free 30-minute consultation helps determine which of our programs may work best for our clients before any commitment.

Yes. We offer payment plans to make LaunchPath accessible, while still maintaining the high level of personal attention that sets us apart. We want to help you achieve.

Most clients complete the Signature program in 3 – 4 months, meeting with their dedicated coach once or twice per week. Scheduling flexes around academic, work, and family commitments, and shorter tracks like LaunchPath Accelerate move faster.

All LaunchPath coaching is delivered online via live one-on-one Zoom/Teams/FaceTime sessions, with all program materials shared digitally via your centralized private classroom on our website. This means students can work with their coach from any campus or city, keep the same dedicated coach if they move after graduation, and schedule sessions around classes and work.

Our structured programs have a defined completion point, but our commitment to our clients’ long-term career success does not end there. We are deeply passionate about watching young adults thrive, and we love staying connected as mentors. Once the program concludes, we transition our graduates into an alumni relationship. We are always happy to provide ongoing, periodic advice and casual check-ins pro bono. If a graduate eventually requires a deeper, comprehensive strategic pivot down the road, we offer low-barrier, scaled consulting arrangements to support them at every stage of their career journey.

Coaching typically pays for itself with your very first paycheck.

  • The Reality: Multiple independent studies point to the same problem. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York reports that nearly half of recent college graduates are underemployed, working in jobs that don’t require a degree. Separately, a study from the Strada Institute for the Future of Work and Burning Glass Institute found that 52% of graduates are underemployed one year after graduation. This isn’t a short-term setback: 73% of those who start out underemployed are still underemployed a decade later, roughly 3.5 times more likely to be working at less than their educational peer level than someone who lands the right job from the start.
  • The ROI: Coaching speeds up the job search through direct network access, sharper interview prep, and a faster, more targeted application process. If that combination helps a graduate land a full-time role just one month sooner, the salary gained immediately covers the cost of the program

Beyond the immediate financial payback, landing the right entry-level role sets a higher lifetime earning trajectory and equips students with career management skills they will use for decades.

Does LaunchPath find jobs or internships for students?

LaunchPath is not a placement service – we are a coaching program – and no credible program can guarantee an internship or job. What LaunchPath provides is the complete system and hands-on coaching for landing one: career direction, personal narrative development, search strategy, networking and professional communication skills, interview preparation, negotiation and successful onboarding. Once completed, LaunchPath program graduates do earn the Verified Talent Pipeline (VTP) designation – and are the first candidates referred when opportunities arise within our extensive corporate network.

The answer is absolutely – but with an important caveat: if the coaching is personalized and the coach has a proven, successful curriculum combined with current, real-world hiring experience. Every person is an individual with specific strengths, skills and experiences. Developing the ability to present them confidently, create the strategies and pathways to successful career opportunities, meet networking and interview opportunities with enthusiasm and professionalism – those are hallmarks of differentiated, tier-one candidates. No group or online program, no basic or formulaic approach can capture you. That’s our job – and that’s why you need to have a proven platform for success and the 1:1 engagement throughout the process.

How do students get jobs that are never posted online?

Most professional roles are filled through internal networks, employee referrals, and recruiter relationships before they’re ever publicly posted. Accessing it requires proactive networking: identifying target companies, reaching out authentically to people who work there, and building relationships before roles open. LaunchPath teaches this outreach system step by step, including for students with no existing connections. The reality is that there has never been a new-grad job market impacted more by ‘who you know’ than right now – and we coach and instruct on ‘how to get to know’ as a core part of the job search.

Yes. Wherever appropriate we avail our clients to our widespread networks – but more importantly we specialize in helping students build networks from scratch. We’ll show you how to reach out authentically, leverage LinkedIn, and create opportunities even without existing connections.

Yes. Most employers of all sizes use recruiting and applicant tracking systems (ATS) that are AI-enabled and filter resumes before a human ever sees them. These systems and the resulting world of resume-optimization programs have created the worst online application environment in employment history. LaunchPath coaches do advise clients on best practices for building resumes that score well with both automated screening and human recruiters, but far more importantly we teach networking and real-person engagement strategies that bypass the online resume submission log jam entirely.

What makes LaunchPath different from other career coaching or advising services?

Unlike mass-audience career centers, resume workshops, or impersonal online ‘bootcamps’, LaunchPath combines over 50 years of executive recruiting experience with one-on-one personalized coaching through proven step-by-step programs tailored specifically for students heading toward graduation and new graduates currently in the job market. We go beyond the resume to give your student the tools, strategies, confidence and insider knowledge required to be a top candidate in today’s ultra-competitive employment landscape.

Yes – clarifying direction is the first phase of the program, not a prerequisite. LaunchPath starts with a structured assessment of strengths, interests, and market realities, then maps realistic career paths before any resume or application work begins. Starting in the right direction matters: early-career missteps compound very quickly over time, so this phase is treated as the foundation of everything that follows.

We believe in preparation – and that familiarity and practice lead to success. While most of our clients in their 3rd and 4th years are best served by our Signature program, our Accelerate program is highly effective and well-suited to those who are well into their 4th year or have already graduated and are in an active job search. Students with internships on the horizon can benefit from our Runway program as early as their 2nd year of study – and we believe that in the end, more time equals more ability to plan, prepare and practice…

The most effective role for parents is funding the right support and then stepping back. Students rarely respond well to a parent acting as career coach – it strains the relationship and seldom results in lasting strategies or skill development for their immediate or future success. LaunchPath gives students a dedicated professional coach who provides the structure and accountability, bolsters parents’ educational investment, and keeps the tension out of the house.

Our coaches are seasoned executive recruiters who have spent decades advising candidates at every level from entry-level roles to executive leadership. We know what employers are looking for because we’ve been coaching talent from the hiring side for decades. That experience translates into practical, real-world guidance that gives your student an edge on the competition.

Our AI Philosophy

Amplifying Human Potential, Not Replacing It

At LaunchPath, we view Artificial Intelligence through a clear, battle-tested lens: AI is a powerful thinking partner and idea generator – not a substitute for your authentic human voice.

Decades of Industry Experience Behind Our Approach

Having built teams at the forefront of functional AI implementation and actively participating in the rollout of AI tools across the talent acquisition landscape from day one, we’ve seen flashes of productivity improvement – but we are also witnessing a technology breakdown:

For Employers:

An avalanche of hyper-optimized, generic applications that obscure true capability and choke automated hiring systems
and understaffed talent organizations

For Job Seekers:

A passive reliance on automated tools that produces bland, indistinguishable candidate profiles and an inability to get past online applications, because every applicant looks identical

The Takeaway:

In an AI-screened market saturated with AI-standardized, machine-generated candidates, uniquely personal storytelling and sharp critical thinking are your greatest competitive advantages.

How We Teach AI as a Tool

We don’t ban AI; we master it. We instruct our clients to leverage AI to sharpen their edge, not dull their individuality.

A Thinking Partner

Use AI to brainstorm, test ideas, research industry dynamics, and pressure-test your interview preparation

A Voice Refiner

Use AI to structure complex thoughts and eliminate clutter while keeping your core narrative intact

A Research Assistant

Use AI to analyze market trends, decipher job descriptions, and uncover deep company insights faster

A Process Partner

Use AI to implement and execute networking, search and follow-up activities efficiently and effectively

AI can help you prepare, but only you can connect.

We teach candidates how to harness cutting-edge technology as a tool to elevate their personal brand – ensuring they enter the job market not as another automated application, but as a compelling, differentiated, connected professional.
